From the land of udon back to the hotland
We are back in Thailand after a successful trip to Japan. Going from 32 degrees to the mid-90s was a bit of a shock to our systems, but it is good to be back. Our presentations went well (learn more about the conference at bracif.org) despite some technical difficulties (one which resulted in Quincy’s picture being flashed to the audience during Nori’s presentation!) and we made many excellent connections with people doing Burma-related work around the world. I now have a dream to develop a psychosocial health radio program with one of the international news programs that has access to Burma – we’ll see whether this develops! After the conference we spent several amazing days with Takako and her husband and 4 month old daughter in the beautiful mountain town Nikko. By the end of the visit, I was determined to buy a kotatsu (table with an attached heater below and connected blanket that you sit under) for our NYC apartment – we’ll see if we can find one in the city!

Sounds like a great trip! I told Quincy about his guest appearance; he accepted the news quite modestly.
We want one of those tables, too!
